We talk a lot about mental health these days.
But emotional growth and self-awareness — the deep, messy parts — are still being overlooked.
Some of y’all weaponize “go to therapy” like it’s a one-stop solution.
Like showing up to a few sessions means someone’s whole life should be fixed.
But let’s be real…
Some of you go to the gym religiously —
Got the six-pack, got the muscles…
But still got high blood pressure. Still battling diabetes. Still carrying extra weight.
You’re working on it — and people give you grace.
So why can’t we give that same grace to someone working through trauma, pain, or suffering?
Why can’t we accept that healing isn’t linear?
Truth is — empathy is hard for bitter people.
Especially when someone else’s struggle takes the attention off of theirs.
It’s easier to throw advice than to offer presence.
It’s easier to judge than to truly see someone.
So if you’re serious about mental health —
Be serious about compassion too.
Because people can be doing everything they need to, and still be struggling.
And they don’t need your shame.
They need your patience. Your respect. Your humanity.
