This year is already racing by — we’re a full month into 2026.
January was a tough round. No sugarcoating it.
But I refuse to stay in the corner.
I’m coming out swinging. I’m giving life my best.
What gives me the confidence to say that?
History — my history.
When I reflect on how far I’ve come, I remember the bleak hours I survived, the moments when everything felt stacked against me and I still rose to the occasion. When all else failed, I didn’t. I prevailed. No matter what the score looks like right now, I’m still here. I’m still in the game. And the right move can change the entire outlook tomorrow.
That’s why Black History Month matters to me.
It’s an opportunity to be intentional — to reflect on a rich history that offers lessons in resilience, agency, creativity, and leadership. It reminds us that progress is rarely linear, and that growth often comes from pressure.
I think about Malcolm X — a powerful example of transformation and self-determination. His life reminds us that who we are today does not have to define who we become tomorrow.
I think about the Black Panthers and the importance of agency — the reminder that while systems can be flawed, action and collective responsibility matter.
I think about the enduring words of James Baldwin and Maya Angelou, whose insights continue to challenge how we think, lead, and show up for one another.
I’m reminded of how deeply Black culture is embedded in nearly everything we do — from music that has shaped the world (Gospel, Jazz, Rock & Roll, Hip Hop) to fashion and self-expression, from the Moors to Dapper Dan in Harlem.
Black History Month is not just about looking back. It’s about drawing strength from history to move forward with clarity, purpose, and confidence.
So I’ll end with this question:
What does Black History Month mean to you — and how does it inform how you move today?

In that spirit, I’m opening up a few 15-minute courtesy calls for those interested in mentorship or thoughtful collaboration. No pressure — just a conversation to explore alignment, growth, or next steps.
