I have a friend who’s also in business—he’s helped me a lot with JustINSPIRE and a few other projects we’ve been building. Recently, I told him something real:
“The people around me don’t understand my position. All they know are jobs and paychecks.”
But I had more than a job—a career and a purpose. And I wasn’t just average at it. I was one of the best. But because I’m “just an educator,” a title the world often overlooks, my impact gets downplayed. The truth is, if you handed someone close to me my resume and asked them to explain my work or accomplishments, most wouldn’t even pass that quiz.
That’s the part that stings. Not just the loss of a position, but the loss of how you’re seen when your work isn’t easily understood. I rest knowing the students, the people I serve, they understood the assignment.
“I don’t like showing emotion, man, because it exposes you….”
Still, I press forward. Not for validation, but because my purpose hasn’t changed—only the platform has.
Be Wise. Be True. JustINSPIRE.
