I know I’ve been gone for a minute, so it’s only right I came back twice in one day. Hopefully, we can get back on schedule.
I had an epiphany recently — reflecting on forty years of life. All the accomplishments, the losses, the agonizing defeats… and how insignificant many of those things really are when it comes to what truly made me happy.
So here’s a question I want to pose to everyone reading this:
Are you at a point in your life where you can honestly identify what makes you happy?
I mean you — not what we’re told to say.
Take it one step deeper — hold your breath.
What do you love?
If you could do anything, free from expectation or judgment, what would it be?
Think of the simplest thing — the truth of your inner child.
When no one is influencing your choices, what does joy look like for you?
I hate to sound sentimental, but over these last few months, despite having more education than most, I’ve realized I couldn’t be further from what gives me peace and purpose.
I’m struggling — not just because I lost my main source of income, but because I’ve come face to face with a truth: I built up a pile of accomplishments, and like Santiago in The Alchemist, I’ve found myself back where I started.
That’s the revelation — I was always him. I didn’t need anything more.
I just had to go within and claim what was already mine.
I have resilience and wisdom.
Like a dog in the fight — as long as I can rise, I’m still in it.
There’s no quit in me.
Now, I’m not trying to chase or create so many complicated things.
I just want to be me — and find the spaces and people who value that.
It’s time to reinvigorate the mission of JustINSPIRE Mentoring — to help Boys II Men find their purpose and direction in half the time it took me.
Because sometimes, returning to the beginning is where you finally find your purpose.
